Happy Birthday S!

there has been an absence of posts, but we're back!
I dont know if you've seen Tangled; the animation film about Rapunzel. Well it had this part where there were thousands of lanterns floating up in the air to celebrate the birthday of and to seek for the long lost princess, so I thought this might be appropriate (though it's slightly late) to post since it's S's birthday!

it's quite the sight.
To top it with something more:

I know how much cats amuse you
Love you always!

reading is romantic?!

"The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid"
-Jane Austen

If theres one thing you should know about me is that I love the idea of reading. Yes, the IDEA of reading. sure, I like actually reading as well, but I romanticize the act of reading way too much to not be disappointed when I actually sit down with a book. But how can you not romanticize? daydream? it's all so lovely: sitting down in a comfy chair by the window with a cup of tea and some warm cookies! Ah, life. (...wait what I am an wild teenager who likes to go wildly party every night of my life..D:)
but with all the wildness casted aside, my thoughts mostly resemble these images:
I think I'll spend the night digging into a book and some arrowroot cookies I seem to be eating all the time now...In the mean time you should look at MORE photos about reading and get inspired to go read a book! I know you want to.
I've been collecting these photos for my own amusement (that sounded slightly more creepy what I intended) so I don't remember the exact sources, but mostly I got there all here! it's a wonderful blog.
Let's be a little less wild teenagers and more bookworms once in a while.

Jumanji

Anyone remember Jumanji? It was my favourite movie as a kid, and is still one of my favourite Robin Williams movies. The crocodile scene scared the bajeezus out of me though, and for a while I had to ask my mum to look under my bed for large man eating reptiles.
Scary crocodile scene.

So today I stumbled upon this interesting set of chairs by artist Maximo Riera. They are so fantastical and wonderful, and brought me back to those nostalgic days when I wished I had a board game that brought zoos to life, and would almost kill me every time it was my turn to roll.

Aren't they cool! The detail on them is incredible. Right now he is working on making a lion chair, a beetle chair, and a whale chair. I am really excited for when they are finished! I wish he would make a giraffe chair....

Sunny Summers

Today was a beautiful sunny day, and I was outside in my yard eating the bean salad I had made for lunch (recipe below) It was sooo delicious, and I found myself a little mesmerized by it. Which is silly because, I mean, it's bean salad! But the colours just grabbed my attention. That's when I noticed, I matched my bean salad! My yellow shirt, maroon lipstick and green nail polish were the same shade as the corn, black beans, and parsely! I guess I've subconsciously been thinking about these colours all day.
I especially love yellow, it's one of my favourite colours, but people just don't seem to share my love of the colour (or at least in their wardrobe) It's such a fun, cheery colour. And I think whenever people wear it they look simply charming. It's flattering on everyone, and gives your mood such an uplift.
Maybe you're not as daring as this fella to wear the colour as the focal point of your outfit, but maybe wearing it as an accessory like these stunning pair of stilettos show below.
Such a nice shade of yellow too. Like a lemon, or a yellow rose, or maybe lima beans??
This mustard colour yellow has become a hit on runways for quite sometime now. Seen at shows like Acne, Hermes, and Edun
The gentleman just exudes charm for me in his yellow short sleeve jacket. The entire ensemble is perfect, from his cuffed jeans to his velvet bow tie. Even though his expression doesn't make him out to be very cheerful and friendly, his hair makes me very very happy. He's the kind of person that you see in the streets and you just want to be able to say you know them.

Bean Salad Recipe.
1 can black beans
1can chick peas
1 cup fresh or frozen corn
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 pinches of salt
1 1/2 tsp of cumin
1 tsp chili powder
5-8 drops of hot sauce (depending on your spicy preference)
LOTS of fresh minced parsley

Mix everything together and you have a delicious bean salad! ENJOY :D

Just being a teenage gurl

So a couple years back when I declared that I was going to be a vegetarian to my dear parents, the first words were something like: WHAT BUT IF YOU HAVE A BAD DAY YOU CAN'T EAT MCDONALDS!!? because apparently there are bits and pieces of chicken and beef in fries and icecream too. Thanks mom.
Today was sort of a bad-ish day, so I marched into a grocery store and being a teenage gurl (yes with a U), I was going to gorge into double chocolate icecream with chocolate chips and chocolate fudge pieces with chocolate syrup drizzled on top or something that's just as disgusting as that, but on the way to the icecream section, I was stopped by a friendly jolly old local farmer selling his own avocados, and this happened:
I could have had matching green plate, bowl, cup, AND food, but I didn't want anyone thinking I was like, a green eco freak or anything...(the presence of pink bowl is all carefully schemed out.) So it's Guacamole with oven baked spinach tortilla chips and green tea!
Unfortunately, every last bits of the food have disappeared into my stomach while I was reading:
Pay no attention to the Reese bars............THEY WERE ON SALE OKAY?
I think I stocked up on Reese bars for an entire year today, and I couldn't feel happier about it.
As I was shamelessly smiling with my arms full of Reese bars, this girl at the counter was all like (read in the voice of a stupid teenage girl) "uhm, aren't you gonna like, get super fat, like those are like, 300 calories each?" I assured that all is well, I am getting these for my little brother and I am on this diet.
BUT ANYWAYS, books! I've kind of stayed away from Jodi Picoult until now, but I thought I'd give it a go, since apparently "the book is so good!", not that I base my opinions on Yahoo answers or anything..........whatbutit'skindoftrustworthy.
anways, the night is deepening and I think I'm gonna snuggle into my....hard wooden chair and watch Almost Famous like a hardcore rockstar that doesn't give a damn about comfort.

rest in peace summer.

I'm going into a full nostalgia mode for summer and it's only the first week of september. I am trying not to feel so nostalgic about summer because it's just depressing, and as I try not to think about summer I find myself pathetically nostalging about my teenage days that haven't even ended yet, but I keep thinking about it ending because I'm already so old which makes me miss the days I'm living, and then I think about wild teenager-like things I could be doing with my wild teenage years instead of sitting infront of a computer starting a blog which makes me want to stop being depressingly nostalgic about my teenage life so I stop and then I get all nostalgic for summer. It's a vicious cycle.
I may sound somewhat calm about the whole thing but inside I feel like this:
To sort of try to recapture the summer teenager spirit that seems to be slowly fading away into the black abyss of school and cold and rain and all the mushy gross things, I've been obsessively hitting the 'earlier page' on this wonderful blog of teenage bedrooms, putting beach boys on repeat and shamelessly dancing around in my room having fun, fun, fun, cuddling in a cozy nook of fluffy blankets with The Virgin Suicides, eating copious amounts of unhealthy and disgustingly delicious food, and of course,
looking at summery photos like these:

Why can't it be summer all around, it's sort of becoming a serious problem.

Stacking the Odds

Piling bracelets sky high on your arms always seemed to be a hindrance. They get caught on things, weigh you down, but they just look so damn cool.  Lately I've been wanting to stack all the way up my arms so they wouldn't even be able to bend. I wouldn't even mind drowning from the weight of them if I got tossed overboard some accessory loathing pirates, because I would die being as rockin' as possible.
That spine section is an absolute beauty. The finish on it is perfection. It's golden. (No pun intended)

I love the combination of the textures on this woman's arm party. And her orange nail polish just makes it for me. Loving the pops of neon colour. But what I really want to know is can someone please, please tell me where that gorgeous gold nail ring is from. Out of this world kind of cool.

Is that a skinny orange belt tied to his wrist? Because if it is, that is something I definitely want to try.

I want all of this! I'm noticing a lot of DIY bracelets from Honestly WTF, which is making me want to take a trip to my craft closet. By the end of this week I will have done at least three of these. I'll put it on my to do list. But what really catches my eye is this girl's A Peace Treaty bangle set which is absolutely lovely. Just sets everything off perfectly, making it my favourite of the bunch. On my birthday wishlist for sure.
